Video, Malaysians and Food

I received a video a few days back, and I'm not going to lie.. it made me sorta cry..

Why?

Because it's true!

watch it and tell me you didn't choke up

It has soooo much feels man...

We live in such a multi racial country that everyone and anyone most definitely can speak at least 2 languages, and surely have friends from other races.

Families too!! Like mine!! Rojak habis!

People tend to ask, how do you all go out for makan together?

Have you honestly not heard of the term, give and take? If ada non halal, we make sure to tell the halal people la DUH. Or we just go to safe places so everyone can enjoy.

Find common ground.

Like the video, we are more Sama than Lain (but I am lain-lain because I'm weird like that)

In school for example, I had all sorts of friends, crazy, emo, gedik.. eh.. salah (but yes my friends were all that also la) Chinese, Indian, Sikh, Malay.. Semua ada!!! ex boyfriends also same :p

I am happy that my eldest has friends from different races and they all get along really well.. her best friends are Iban, Chinese, Malay and then there are the juniors and seniors from all races too!

I generally tell her, be nice to everyone.. but choose your friends wisely.

It shocks me to my core that there are some parents who continue to educate their kids saying one race is more superior and they shouldn't be friends with other races.. because apparently the rest of us are going to HELL

There was a point in life where everyone was talking bad about everyone else, cursing and swearing.. fighting.. even kids as young as 7 were saying Cina Babi, India Bodoh.. if I was your parent I would slap you then cili your bloody mulut.

Then came
  May 9th 2018

This was the day that no matter what race we were, we all went out to get gangrene pointer fingers.

And we did it.

We changed Our Malaysia.

After May 9th, there was a rapid change in Malaysian's behaviour.

Some stuck to their old kolot ways but the rest of us changed for the better. There were more smiles, more greetings, more warmth which can still be felt till today.

People started clearing up after themselves at fast food outlets too!!! SO PROUD OF US!!

Hey, we have a 93 year old Prime Minister who can put us all to shame with how lazy and unproductive we can be and I think this has somewhat changed the mentality of the younger generation...

The saying "My Grandfather also can do better than you la" totally applies to Malaysia right now

"eh malas la nak gi kerja.. amik mc la"

MC??? hoih Tun M pun gi kerja ko tau?!

I like the new Government.. I think most of us that are about the same age feel a certain secure-ness (?) seeing old faces back in action.. I rather this feeling of slight happiness compared to the feeling of "We're doomed"

But my all time favourite Minister has to be MAT SABU.. No nonsense!! And funny too!

There were times when I just wanted to win the lottery and get out of the country... but now, I'll stick around for a little bit to see how things go..

What amazed me was that after May 9th, I had Malaysian friends from all over the world who started coming back to Malaysia!!

I worry that if I were to migrate... My makan  how? Wantan mee? Rojak? Roti Canai? Nasi Tomato? Murtabak?

No 24 hour mamak.. No abang Burger Ramly.. No Chai Tau kueh Uncle.. No Banana Leaf...

I will die

It's Merdeka tomorrow, and I've noticed that in my taman, there are so many flags up this year!! compared to recent years where we hardly saw any.

Cousins will be over for some food and nonsensical bantering but all in all I wish everyone Selamat Hari Kebangsaan and please, let us make Malaysia one country we can be proud of again..  and not be ashamed to say

I'm Malaysian.
