UPSR, Panic and Utter Worry.
As I sit here typing this, all the Year 6 pupils would have started their first paper of the UPSR examination....
I've got students sitting for the exams too and honestly I wonder how their parents are feeling right now...
A friend sent me a picture of the kids getting ready and still revising while waiting to be sat in the hall.. that picture made me feel all sorts of things but mostly I felt scared.. scared for the kids... and for their parents..
Update from parents who are currently at school show that PARENTS AND TEACHERS are more anxious than the kids who still seem to be in such a chilled out mood.
Hmm.. maybe it's true then.. If you've prepared way ahead of time, there's no point getting all panicky.. but if you've not studied, well.. just pray your best will be good enough?

Thank God The Eldest is not taking the UPSR this year coz I overslept today and woke up at 8.00am.. when the first paper starts at 8.15am
Some parents were up at 5am!!!
I remember the time when I sat for the UPSR examinations... Cold sweat man! And just being in that hall, with silence that can drive you crazy.. gah! that was horrible!
Sometimes I wonder how I'll be like when the time comes for The Eldest to sit for a Major Exam.... Think I'll be one of those parents that just can't seem to fall asleep at night since the beginning of the year..
For Parents, the torture tends to begin early, and ends later compared to the kids.. why?
We chuck all sorts of revisions at them, make sure they eat properly, let them go for the exam (for kids, this is where they yell MERDEKA!!!) and then the dreaded wait for the results which usually takes what? up to 2 months? God help parents keep their sanity till then....
I know of parents who take leave from work just so they can be there for their kids (even if their kids don't want them there!) When it's The Eldest punya turn... The Husband will have to take the week off to watch The Youngest while I accompany The Eldest for her exams.. But will go sit at the mamak while she's at it.. Allll planned out..
Back then, I remember us having to practice getting in the hall, pulling out our chairs, sitting down, getting up, pushing the chairs back in, and leaving the hall..
First try and Headmistress was all "You are all girls! Not ELEPHANTS!!!" because of the usual stomping into the hall and literally dragging the chairs out from under the tables...
Second try, almost tip toeing into the hall, lifting and taking the chairs out.. STILL NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!!
Third try, sounded the same to me but apparently Teachers have different kinds of sound registrations and she said it was MUCH BETTER.
Do they still do this now? I highly doubt it but maybe some schools do! Who knows....

All girls schools consist of mainly unnecessary dramatic effects.. I remember a few of them throwing up about 15 minutes before we entered the hall..
Sheesh..
Then there was the time my nephew who sat for the exams 2 years ago....
He asked his mother to please pray to Every God and Deiti there is out there to help him with his exams..
His mother went "You don't want to study but you expect Ganesha, Muruga, Jesus, Kuan Yin all to come give you the answers is it?"
hilarious

Well, best of luck to all Parents, Teachers and Kids who are currently swept up in the UPSR typhoon till Thursday!
