Neighbours, Cooking and Arabic
Neighbours are funny creatures don't you think?
When God said LOVE THY NEIGHBOURS... He clearly didn't realize what idiots homosapiens would turn out to be.
Take yesterday for instance... Sent The Eldest to school and when I reached home, parked the car, took The Youngest out of her car seat then my neighbour decided to ask me:
"This one also yours ah?" while pointing at The Youngest
I gave her a really 'what are you talking about' kinda face and said Yeah....
When my brain was actually telling me to say
"Oh no, found her at the side of the road and decided to pick her up and bring her home"
Then she says "Oh, so you have 2 kids?"...
Yes aunty, I have 2 kids.
Okay well, give her the benefit of the doubt because they kinda just moved in on Sunday.
Thunderstorm wise, it's hitting different areas everyday.
Monday it was Klang, Tuesday it was Puchong, and yesterday it hit Bukit Jalil and The Husband only managed to get home from work at about 8ish.. which by our standards is very late!
The Eldest has been learning to cook and yesterday while on the way home from school , I mentioned that I just needed to fry up the veges for dinner when we get home and she excitedly yelled "I'LL DO IT MUM!!!"
Got home, changed out of her school clothes (which was done in record time!!!) and off to the kitchen she went.. I'm going to teach her how to make other things soon since she's finally interested to learn.
Before this she would help me with prepping.. stringing the french beans.. slicing the mushrooms... dicing garlic... and halving fishballs..
On to bigger things soon!
Ha... just realized its the 3rd language exams today... and I have been asked this question many many uncountable times..
WHY IS YOUR DAUGHTER TAKING ARABIC AND NOT MANDARIN?
why must it always be Mandarin? why has no one asked me why isn't she taking Tamil? or Hindi? or Thai? Spanish? Italian?
Answer:
BECAUSE HER SCHOOL ONLY OFFERS ARABIC LA!!!
Then again, does it really matter what language she's taking? She seems to be enjoying it so LEAVE HER ALONE.
I for one, think that seeing a kid that looks like The Eldest speaking Arabic is somewhat fascinating. No one would expect her to be able to converse in Arabic and yet she can. The fact of when she's actually going to be conversing with someone in Arabic is a whole different matter now but if needed, she'll be fine.
Languages, any language for that matter is beautiful. Different words hold different meanings.. the more languages you know, the further you will go...
Anyway, see, total rambling mess today but you know you read it anyway :p
Take care now, and please stay safe if the storm is headed your way.
