Deepavali, BBQ, and More than 2 Kids.
That was a fantastic long weekend!!!
Deepavali was great. Had a BBQ and The Sister, Brother in Law, Uncle and cousins came by... made lots of noise, ate a great deal of food, laughter, annoying each other... the usual stuff..
I love it when we get together... you know how they say that your siblings and cousins are your first friends? Well, that's true!!
Of course, now that we're older.. the even older generation gets teased and annoyed to no end... Just ask Uncle Duncan... kena kacau maximum on Tuesday hahahahhahahahah
I had to disappear halfway thru as was feeling like crap thanks to all the garlic I had to breathe in while The Husband was preparing marinades and stuff.. Think I'm a vampire... Whole body just felt like it was going to explode and nostrils hurt... Am okay now but next time there's a ton of garlic involved, I'm gonna wear a face mask.
I have been observing people with more than 2 kids lately, and weirdly most of these kids seem to be a little uncontrollable and scream when they want something.. Is it because there are too many of them that they feel the need to scream just in case their parents don't hear them?
First time I started observing was in Aeon a few days back.. we were having lunch at the food court and a family of 6 sat in front of us... Kids were from the ages of 1 to 9.. there were 4 of them and 3 out of 4 were boys.
The Dad had to go get food and everyone wanted something different that by the time he sat down to finally start his meal, he was clearly annoyed but that didn't stop the kids from asking him to let them eat something other than what they had ordered.
The Mum was struggling with the 2 younger ones and the 3rd child, kept screaming for food!! "Mak!! nak makan!!! MAK!!!!" While the eldest child kept insisting that she help him cut the egg on his plate!! The Dad said cut it yourself while the 2nd child, and the only girl, was close to tears because she wanted to sit next to her dad instead of her brother.
Wow. I would have lost it.
Then yesterday, we were having dinner at Setia City Mall when this family walked in, kids already in their pajamas... we counted... 6 kids.
The boys started climbing those car and bus ride ons... I was secretly hoping one of them would fall but their monkey skills were amazing.
Their Parents?
On their phones.
Guess they took them out of the house so they could burn off some energy and fall asleep when they got home.. but honestly, they were a danger to other kids who are playing in the same vicinity.
This other family walks in and sits at the table next to ours.. 2 kids.. I thought well okay this should be alright ey?
I was wrong.
The elder girl kept screaming in her annoying shrill voice.. ordering her mother to take this take that give me this give me that no I dont want this or that...
God, if she was my child I would have slapped her silly.
Sigh, I wonder how high their parents blood pressure goes...
It definitely can't be easy raising more than 2 kids.. worse if all the kids are like a year or two apart... How do they keep their sanity? Going out for food costs a bomb... and not to mention the going back to school stuff they're going to have to buy....
I think they kinda know all this but still choose to have tons of kids anyway.. I wonder how they do it.. how do they budget their monthly income to accommodate 4 or 5 or 6 kids? Impressive really.
Anyway, that's the long weekend gone and now I have to get back to stuff I didn't do while I was being on holiday mode.
Till the next post.. Tata!!
